CIVIL ENGINEER

Work Location: Helenwood, TN 37755 with a possibility of hybrid

Schedule- 1st Shift Monday to Friday fulltime

Develop and support the design, manufacturing, and general institutional Package & Transportation requests for DOT Type A, B, and IP1 packaging and custom fabrications, including:

  • Design of member connections
  • Design of lifting fixtures and attachments
  • Design of closure/sealing mechanisms
  • Design of internal and external container tie-downs
  • Perform calculations and analyses to support design basis and requirements. such as:
  • Finite-element Analysis
  • Stack analysis (compressive strength) of container
  • Lifting fixture analysis
  • Tie-down analysis for transport by truck and/or rail
  • Drop test
  • Connection Analysis
  • Apply relevant codes and standards, such as:
  • ASTM
  • ASME (e.g., Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code)
  • NQA-1
  • AISC Steel Construction
  • 49 CFR (General Packaging Design Requirements)
  • 10 CFR (Packaging and Transportation of Radioactive Materials
  • AWS DI.I & D1.3 Welding Codes
  • Perform reviews of customer specifications and scopes of work, implementing the specific requirements and characteristics into each project
  • Develop required procedures and integrated work flow documents to allow for proper testing and inspections meeting customer specifications
  • Review of designs and certification documents prepared by designers or other engineers
  • Interaction with customer representatives (engineers, quality assurance, inspectors)
  • Assist with rile preparation of quotes for new projects
  • Prepare concept drawings to be included in quotes
  • Maintain engineering records regarding drawings and certification documents
  • Perform prototype and certification testing of containers
  • Prior Project Management Experience a plus
  • Experience with LS-DYNA is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an ABET accredited school
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering
  • Valid Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred)
  • Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks, AutoCAD. and Microsoft Office products (word. outlook. excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self Starter
